The Chair welcomed
Matthew Arnold - South East Commercial Director at Stagecoach and
Phil Lightowler - Head of Public
Transport at Kent County Council Forum. They gave an informative
presentation on their respective roles and that of their
organisation and questions were invited from councillors, parish
representatives and members of the public.
Bus engines when idling.
The cost of public transport.
The difficulties involved in operating punctually with local
The possibility of reductions for group travel particularly in the
evenings and at weekends.
The large number of student pass holders across Kent and the issues
this presents for timetabling and capacity.
Enforcement issues on the coach bays outside the bus station.
The possibility of live digital information being provided at the
bus station in the future.
The unprecedented amount of roadworks in the county, both highways
and new developments.
Community Transport Grant – the Forum was advised that there
were grants available to set up a community transport scheme and
that details would be circulated for information.
Brexit concerns. It wasn’t
possible to predict what would happen but emergency planning
meetings had been attended by Stagecoach and Kent County
